Here are some of our most frequently asked questions: Are the trips properly supervised and are they safe? Parents and/or guardians are expected to keep track of minors at all times. The areas we go to are relatively safe as long as you use common sense. The media paints a "dangerous" picture of New York or D.C., but we are not in areas of concern or out much at night. Additionally, we are in a group of over 40 most of the time. Can I make arrangements to meet and spend time with those I know at Bethel? Absolutely! Just keep your Tour Guide well informed. Can someone in a wheel chair go on the trip? Our busses do not have lifts, so the person would need to be able to walk on and off the bus. If he/she requires a wheel chair most of the time, they must have a traveling companion who has accepted the responsibility of assisting that person. Will a wheelchair fit in the luggage compartment under the bus? Only wheelchairs that fold up fit under the bus with no problem. Plus, all of the Society’s facilities have wheelchairs available for those that need them. Can someone go who needs assistance because of health problems? Yes, if they have a traveling companion who has accepted the responsibility of assisting that person. Can we take food on the bus? Absolutely. I have to eat frequently for my blood sugar. Do we stop for meals regularly? Yes. But we recommend you keep snacks with you if your health would be compromised since the timing of our meal breaks can vary slightly. When we are traveling on the bus for long distances, how often do we stop for bathroom breaks? Approximately every two hours. When do I get my plane ticket if I am taking a trip that involves air travel? You will receive your airline ticket details, airport arrival instructions, and hotel addresses and phone numbers approximately 2 weeks before your trip. What is the difference between an electronic ticket (e-tickets) and paper tickets? With an e-ticket, you will receive an itinerary in the mail before you leave. To check in for your flight, you present the proper identification to the person at the check in counter. Your boarding passes are issued when you check in. With paper tickets you receive a voucher and an itinerary in the mail before your trip. To check in for your flight, you present the vouchers and proper identification to the person at the check in counter, along with proper identification. Your boarding passes are issued when you check in. When should I check in for my flight? At this time the airlines are recommending you check in three hours in before your flight for international flights and two hours before your flight for domestic flights. Do you sell travel insurance? Yes we do. In fact, you must have travel insurance (whether or not arranged through us) as it guarantees you will get a full refund if you must cancel. Ask for details. What if I can't go? Unfortunately, we must abide by our "Cancellation Policy". Once issued, airfare and insurance is nonrefundable and nontransferable. However, as an added convenience, we can "transfer" the reservation of your "Land portion" to someone else for a $50 Transfer Fee. Do you offer discounts for children? Unfortunately, no. Our Venders (hotels, busses, and airlines) charge us a set amount regardless of age. The only exception "may" be for infants who are 2 years of age when they do not occupy a seat on the airplane or bus. How much of a deposit do I have to have for my trip? A deposit of $350 per person is required at the time of reservation for all trips. The balance MUST be received and paid no less than ninety (90) days prior to travel. Who can go on our trips? Our tours are designed for Jehovah’s Witnesses, their family and friends. Those who are not Jehovah’s Witnesses are welcome to join the tours provided their conduct does not conflict with our Christian principals and consciences. Can minors go without their parents? Yes, if an adult going on the trip has been appointed as their legal guardian for the duration of the trip. What is the purpose of arranging Bethel Tours? To offer trips to Bethel branches that are spiritually encouraging, safe, fun & affordable. Are you sponsored by the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society in any way? No. Although we are NOT sponsored by the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society of Jehovah's Witnesses, we do receive many referrals from the local Bethel Brothers for tour information, as they recognize it is an encouragement for both them and visitors. However, please do not give copies of any promotional information out in the Kingdom Hall, make announcements at the Kingdom Hall, or post any of our literature on the information board at the Kingdom Hall.
The Society suggests a dress code be set up for the trip because everywhere we stop we give a witness. We want the trip to be comfortable and memorable for everyone, so we have set forth guidelines that are reasonable and still allow room for personal preference.
Please let your desire to bring honor to Jehovah’s name be reflected in how you dress. FOR BUS TRIPS The following dress is appropriate when traveling on the bus: 1 Loose fitting sweats are fine and well suited to traveling long distances and sleeping on the bus. 2 If jeans are worn, they should not have holes or worn-out spots in them. The crotch should not be down around the knees and look as if they are about to fall down around the ankles. Remember, we are Jehovah's Witnesses, not a "worldly" tour group. 3 Never go outside the bus barefooted. 4 Shorts (not cutoffs), slightly above the knee and loose fitting, are acceptable, i.e., walking shorts. 5 Hair styles (men and women) for baptized brothers and sisters should reflect the spiritual person and not worldly fads. |
