TOUR DESCRIPTION:
Departing with your cruise ship from
Seward, your Southbound Alaska cruise will take you to mountainous
Valdez, the "Switzerland of Alaska". This breathtaking and
fascinating cruise will be among your most cherished memories.
Located at the head of Resurrection
Bay on the Kenai Peninsula is Seward, one of Alaska's oldest
communities. Named for the man who bought Alaska from the Russians,
this is one of the most beautiful cities in the Northwest. Saltwater
bays, blue glaciers, majestic mountains and alpine valleys make this
historical city one of the most memorable to visit.
Located in south central Alaska,
Prince William Sound is one of nature's grandest collections of
jagged glaciers, offers millions of acres of fine saltwater beaches,
protected coves, lush forests and numerous jewel-like lakes. The
area is abundant in wildlife, including Dall sheep, mountain goats,
bald eagles, sea otters and whales, just to name a few. This is a
royal beauty for anyone visiting Alaska.
College Fjord: Located just
thirty miles west of Valdez, this enormous ice field, resplendent
with sixteen tidewater glaciers, is a breathtaking landscape
enclosed by steep walls of ice and mountains which rise from sea
level to 10,000 feet.
Sitka, the only major city on
Alaska's Baranof Island, is the beneficiary of three distinct
cultures: Tlingit Indian, Russian and American. You'll find relics
of all three cultures throughout the area. With the spectacular
natural beauty of Sitka Sound, its fascinating history, unique totem
park and Mount Edgecomb, a dormant volcano which rises above the
harbor, Sitka is definitely a treasure in the Alaskan wilderness.
Juneau, Alaska is considered by
many to be the most beautiful capital city in the nation. Checking
in at just a little over 3,100 square miles Juneau qualifies as the
biggest American city - geographically, that is. The terrain is
hilly and winding, and narrow streets present a small-town
quaintness existing side-by-side with cosmopolitan sophistication.
You'll find great shopping, fine restaurants and superb Museums.
As your ship approaches Skagway,
you'll see the town resting peacefully at the base of a river valley
bordered by the Coast Mountains. The mountains, ranging from 5,000
to 7,000 feet in height, seem to rise straight up from the saltwater
fjord. Once on land, the streets of Skagway draw you back over 100
years, when this idyllic Native fishing village was overrun by
hordes of prospectors. Today, wooden sidewalks, old-fashioned
saloons, quaint gift shops and horse-drawn carriages serve as
reminders of the Alaskan Gold Rush days.
A popular destination along
Alaska's famed Inside Passage, Ketchikan is teeming with
Native American culture. Home of the largest concentration of
Tlingit, Haida and Tsimshian people in the state this
extraordinarily beautiful city on Revillagigedo Island boasts the
world's largest collection of totem poles, and an equally impressive
selection of museums and cultural centers featuring Native dance,
carving and artifacts. Ketchikan's calm waters and surprisingly
gentle climate make it a favorite of sports fishermen.
Cruise Inside Passage: All it
takes to get the inside story of Alaska's beauty is a trip through
the Inside Passage, Alaska's "water highway", where majestic fjords
compete for your attention with mountain masterpieces carved by the
glaciers. Breathtaking panoramas are dotted by small fishing
villages along the coast, and the protected waters are perfect for
spotting wildlife.
Vancouver is a dream-like mountain ringed city blessed with a
huge natural harbor that remains ice-free year round. Wide open
spaces, beautiful beaches, tall skyscrapers and an enchanting
rainforest all mingle together to create a most relaxed and
stress-free setting. Most folks come here to get away from it all,
and enjoy fantastic cuisine, world-class entertainment, and
unlimited shopping opportunities. |

TOUR DESCRIPTION:
Among the most memorable experiences
in travel is sailing in or out of New York Harbor, past the towering
buildings of Manhattan's distinctive skyline. There are the
Societies facilities near the great bridges, Ellis Island, and
the upraised torch of Lady Liberty herself.
Whether arriving in the morning, or sailing in the evening, it is
thrilling.
New York City...
After
touring the Society's facilities, the evenings in New York City are
full of new and exhilarating experiences that are well
planned and safe. Your tour guide will make sure you are never left
alone, and never without something to do or see unless you want to
be. There are many things and places your tour guide will help you
to enjoy. Here are a few:

Statue of Liberty

• Broadway and Off Broadway
San Juan, Puerto Rico...
Juan Ponce de Leon, the historically well-known seeker of the
Fountain of Youth, explored and settled this tropical island and
then became its first governor in 1508. Above the weathered walls of
Old San Juan gleams the family home of the famed Spanish explorer. A
grateful Spanish Crown gave the land to de Leon and in 1521 the
historic “Casa Blanca” was built. That same year marked the end of
de Leon’s life. He died dramatically by a poison-tipped arrow and
never had the opportunity to live in the mansion which was his
reward from King Charles the First. When resurrected he will have
the opportunity to accept the true 'Fountain of Youth' provided by
Jehovah the giver of life.
St. Thomas...
Charlotte Amalie, the capital of the United States Virgin Islands
and the most popular cruise port in the Caribbean. Charlotte Amalie
(named for a Danish Queen) is where the ships dock and the white and
pastel houses are heavily sprinkled against a background of emerald
hills. Colorful sloops dock along the waterfront, and a few steps
back, down alleyways lined with old Danish warehouse buildings, is a
world-famous
shopping center.
When walking in St. Thomas, you will see the bustle of Main
Street, and cool emerald hills. Look also for the view from Mountain
Top. The spiral of winding streets from the base of Savan. The quiet
French countryside feeling on the far side of the island.
Hoteliers offer accommodations
to suit all tastes.
Virgin
Gorda...
Virgin Gorda, or "Fat Virgin", refers to a protruding
mountain noted by Columbus on this second largest of the British
Virgin Isles. Only ten miles long and two miles wide, the island is
known for its yacht clubs, quiet coves, and safe anchorage's for
bare boats. Its most celebrated beach - The Baths - is an intriguing
grouping of huge granite rocks framing grottos filled with sea
water. While geologists ponder the origins of these mysterious
boulders, swimmers and snorkelers refresh themselves in the cool
waters of hidden pools and secret passages. Nature lovers can enjoy
a short stroll from The Baths to the Devil's Bay National Park.
Tortola...
Tortola, 'land of turtle doves' or Chocolate City is the
largest of the British Virgin Islands overlooking Sir Francis Drake
Channel and situated about 60 miles east of Puerto Rico. Road Town's
scenic setting and sheltered yacht-filled harbor provide a helpful
orientation to the laid-back BVI lifestyle evolved over the last
400 years by English, Dutch, French, and Spanish adventurers,
followed by plantation owners and 20th century settlers. This
friendly and diversified community tempts travelers with every sort
of regional and international cuisine found in a choice of cheerful
pastel painted restaurants, former forts, and sugar mills.
Palate-pleasing menus feature West Indian specialties of fresh
lobster, conch, turtle, spicy goat, and curries of every
description. |
